  7. How does the refunding of expenses work?

EU-funding is available for the benefit of the eligible researchers as a contribution to their travel costs, their daily living expenses, and the cost of their participation in the conferences and/or training courses.

    1. Hotel costs: Participants are expected to make their own hotel arrangements and settle their own hotel bills.
(NB: For the 2007 conference in Vienna you must pay your own hotel bill and submit your receipt for reimbursement of eligible expenses as defined in #5 above.)

    2. Refunding of eligible expenses will be made by bank transfer to your bank account.
For us to reimburse your expenses, we must have complete information about your bank account - including IBAN number.

    3. Reimbursement of eligible costs will be made only upon presentation of original receipts (plane tickets, train tickets, hotel accommodations etc.). The sooner you hand in your receipts, the earlier you will get your money back.

    4. All reimbursements will be made through Saarland University who then claim the expense to the European Union. It is therefore necessary that you abide strictly by all rules covering refunds, i.e. only claim eligible expenses and submit valid receipts.

You can expect that you will be reimbursed within 4 weeks after receipt of your documents.
